On Wednesday, 12 August 2026, Future Empowerment for Development Initiative (FEDI) successfully conducted the project inception workshop for its newly launched pilot nutrition and home garden intervention in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State. Nigeria.
The workshop marked an important start-up milestone for the project, which is being implemented with sup
port from Poremma Foundation. The intervention is de
signed to strengthen household nutrition practices among vulnerable caregivers through a combination of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) sessions, Tom Brown demonstrations, home garden support, and the establishment of a demonstration farm for practical learning.
The inception workshop brought together relevant community stakeholders, local representat
ives, project team members, and community structures to formally introduce the project objectives, implementation approach, beneficiary targeting process, safeguarding considerations, visibility requirements, and expected roles of stakeholders. Participants also discussed the importa
nce of community ownership, accountability, and coordinated support to ensure effective implementation.
Through this pilot project, FEDI will support selected vulnerable households, including internally displaced persons and host community members, with practical knowledge and basic inputs to improve household dietary diversity and promote low-cost, locally driven nutrition solutions. The project will also generate learning to inform future scale-up of community-based nutrition and resilience initiatives.
FEDI appreciates the support of Poremma Foundation and the collaboration of all stakeholders who participated in the inception workshop. We remain committed to working with communities to promote dignity, resilience, improved nutrition, and sustainable household-level solutions in conflict-affected areas of Northeast Nigeria.
